Koi Deewana Kehta Hai

Kumar Vishwas is a poet of a new generation (in Marathi we call it Navkavi).  To quote few people-

Late Dharamvir Bharati, remarked him as the most promising lyricist of young-hindi generation, Honourable Neeraj used to call his compering as – “nisha-niyamak”, and according to the famous comedy-icon poet, Surinder Sharma, he is the one and only ISO2006 poet of this generation.

Dr.Vishvas, immensely popular with the coming generation has been using internet to spread the magic of his words—his beautiful poetry—to reach those Indians who are away from their soil, in far flung places like U.S.A, Europe, Gulf and Pakistan.

I heard his beautiful poem titled ‘Koi Deewana Kehta Hai’ and instantly fell in love with it. You can watch the video on YouTube or Google video.

Here are the lyrics-

I feel like like listening to the poetry now and then!

You can read more at a dedicated website for Dr. Kumar vishwas. The website also features some of his Hindi poems.

Why does music have so much profound effect on our mood? How do we perceive and interpret musical notes? Is it intuitive or involves continuous learning process or both? Marvin Minsky has tried to answer these questions on his paper titled Music, Mind and Meaning. He is an American cognitive scientist in the field of artificial intelligence (AI), co-founder of MIT’s AI laboratory, and author of several texts on AI and philosophy (interestingly I did BE final year project on Stock Market using AI techniques).

(Inspired from meetings and calls)

Tujhe kiya khabar teri yaad ne, Mujhe kaise kaise sata diya
Kabhi khalwaton mein hasaa diya, Kabhi mahfilon mein rula diya…

Kabhi yun hua ki teri yaad mein, Meri Namaz kaza hui
Kabhi teri yaad ne, Mujhe Mere rab sey mila diya…

Superhero – The Developer’s Song

Microsoft Chairman and Chief Software Architect, Bill Gates, launched the integrated computing platform – Visual Studio 2005, SQL Server 2005, and BizTalk Server 2006 in India on December 9, 2005. Joining in the celebration was the Indian Rock band – Parikrama with a rock song just for our Indian developers. Called `Superhero’ the song is about the life of a programmer.

Get the lyrics or download the song. Enjoy!

I present the lyrics here….

Superhero

Springs up from the bed with a crossword in his head,

A shiver shakes his spine thinking what the boss said,

Feeling like a mouse in the tiger’s den (ah right)

Missed the bus again, runs all the way to work,

Prays to all his Gods, even Captain Kirk,

Hoping he can make it in time for the bumpy ride.

(Pre-chorus)

Opens all the windows, as he shuts the door,

As the magic begins to flow, out to the fore

(Chorus)

He’s no less than a super hero

can’t make him fall

Ones and zeroes, threes and fours

But not that bad a guy after all

Afternoon comes when everyone eats,

Staring down at lines on his L.C.D screen,

Cracking up the code, faster than the speed of light.

Evening bells ringing, had to meet his date,

Digits on his hand will have to make her wait,

Smiles at his phone, then tosses it aside.

(Pre-chorus)

Opens all the windows, as he shuts the door,

As the magic begins to flow, out to the fore

(Chorus)

He’s no less than a super hero

Can’t make him fall

Ones and zeroes, threes and fours

But not that bad a guy after all.

A poem written in Marathi (commonly called charolya or four liners) during college days:

Mind over Matter

Is everyone’s life really that different,
or is there a thread that connects us all?
The experiences we have seem oddly connected,
you’ll understand my friend at the end of the long haul.

You say to yourself “What a coincidence”
you’re asking yourself “Is this just a clue”
All things that have happened before this moment,
are connected correctly …spooky, but true!

To get to a place that you want to be,
set your thoughts on it and then magically…
This place in your mind suddenly appears,
as long as you’re not just plain insincere.

It’s mind over matter at work in your life,
irony and destiny but hopefully not strife.
Mind over matter is a powerful tool,
use it correctly and follow the rules.

You’ve got to know where you are trying to go,
you’ve got to know why or the answer is no.
But all things are possible through mind in this life,
from money & fame to the spiritual life.

Just decide on the things you want as your goal,
use mind over matter and bring shape to the whole.
You’ll see life’s connections in all that you do,
re-living the future …it’s like déjà vu.

…But you’ve got to hold on to that feeling inside,
of wanting and striving and direction and pride,
or mind over matter becomes words on a page,
and life in this miracle becomes lines on the stage.
